Special attention is given to developing a quitting strategy, dealing with recovery symptoms, controlling weight, managing stress through relaxation, assertiveness techniques, proper use of smoking cessation medications and staying off cigarettes.

For smokers - especially those who have tried to quit before - group support can make the difference in helping participants stay smokefree. Clinics can be conducted in a community setting or at a worksite.

Freedom From Smoking is also available free online (www.FFSonline.org) for those who are unable to attend a clinic. Activities are similar to those offered during the class-setting and participants can even chat online with others who are taking the online version.
