Days until the Walk - 0

Walk for Life & Breath took place on 11/14/09 at Chase Center on the Riverfront. The Top 3 Fundraising Teams are listed below.  The next Walk is scheduled for 11/13/10.  Check back soon for more information or to be a Team Captain or Committee Member,  contact kburris@lunginfo.org

1.       Team Patti 09 - $5,281.96 (Valerie Perrine and Ginger Huros)
·         Made up of 27 members, Valerie and Ginger also sold wristbands, raffles, restaurant fundraisers and did and amazing wraparound event at CW Harborside called "Scream Your Lungs Out" that brought in and additional $1,700 to their team.
2.       Cecil's Turtles - $4,223
·         Made up of 13 members, Michelle was able to secure a $2,500 cash sponsorship on her own from Valero.  This gave her a "credit" to her team, but even with this credit, Cecil's Turtles was still in second place with her fundraising dollars alone ($1,723).  Michelle had a halloween party, baked 10 dozen cookies of her mom's famous recipe, had had restaurant fundraisers.  Michelle was also a member of the Walk Committee
3.       AI Swimming - Lady Tigers - $1,665
·         Made up of 13 members, Brian Drysdale is the team captain for and coaches the girls/boys team for AI Swimming.  Brian has done the printing for the Walk signage for the past 2 years.  One of the girls on his swim team mom recently died of lung cancer.  He wanted to get the teams involved and challenged the girls against the boys.  Naturally, the girls won J  (Boys came in at $755).
4.       Special Award:  Spacer Walkers - Sarah Andrews $1,117
·         I decided to give a special award to a special Team Captain this year - Sarah Andrews.  Sarah attended our Asthma Camp and was very leery about being a team captain and wasn't sure she could raise any money and wanted other Asthma Campers to join her team.  I couldn't promise they would join, but I did promise her if she set up a page I would be her first pledge.  That first pledge got her start to $1,117 and she had 10 walkers on her team!!!  Sarah is only 10 years old.
