Help Me Get Across!!
|
|
The 2010 Big Ride Across America is a fund raising bicycle ride leaving Seattle on June 23rd and arriving in Washington D.C. on August 9th. These heroic cyclists, with your financial support, will pedal 3,300 miles in 48 days averaging more than 83 miles per day while each raising a minimum of $6,000 for the vital programs and research of the American Lung Association.
Why the Big Ride?
After graduating from Columbia University, I found myself indecisive about my next step. With endless possibilities before me, I decided to create a journey for myself that not only would take me to new places, it would also help others along the way.
I jumped out of a plane a few weeks before I made the decision to bike across the country. After free falling (parachute and instructor included!), a newfound surge of inspiration came to me. Overcoming what many feel is impossible to do left me wanting more. I was more alive with this desire and I wanted to share that feeling with others.
The Gift of Breath is the Gift of Life. Being alive and well is one thing I will never take for granted. I wish to share this precious Gift so others may become more aware and supportive of theirs and others lives in the face of Lung Disease. As a third leading cause of death, Lung Disease presents something near impossible to conquer. But there is hope when there is action taken. With your act of donating we can combat Lung Disease with research, education programs and awareness. My act is to ride for you, myself and others in hopes for a better tomorrow.
God Bless!
